FutureEd Fest 2024, a national celebration of education and hosted by Starfish Education, returned for its second year on October 5th, 2024 and the Central Postal Building in Bangkok with the theme “EduInnovate - Crafting the Future of Learning.”
Starfish Education worked in collaboration with key partners such as the Office of the Secretary-General of the Education Council, the Office of the Teacher and Educational Personnel Commission (OTEPC), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Equitable Education Fund, the Office of Educational Innovation Management, Thai PBS, ALT TV, and the Thailand Education Partnership (TEP), as well as many other networks from government agencies, private sectors, schools, and universities.
This year, FutureEd Fest 2024 built upon last year's success, attracting over 2,000 participants. The event showcased innovations and modern educational technologies and promoted Maker Education to enhance future skills in preparation for the future of work.
Highlights of the event included keynote speeches from leading educational experts, panel discussions on modern education ideas addressing preparedness for the AI era, onsite and hybrid workshops to enhance knowledge and skills, a Meet Up Cafe focusing on community learning networks, a pitching competition for innovative presentations from students, and the Thailand Future Ed Awards recognizing outstanding innovative teachers and schools. Additionally, a Maker Fest displayed educational innovations from various institutions, and there were numerous exhibitions featuring exciting learning innovations from partner organizations.
The event featured a diverse array of activities: 23 workshops, 6 panel sessions, 7 keynote speeches, 12 exhibitions, 10 Maker Fest schools, 5 Meet Up Cafes, and 17 finalist pitching teams from over 200 applicants nationwide. Ten awards for Innovative Teacher and Innovative School were presented at the Thailand Future Ed Awards, along with certificates for 10 organizational leaders who drive change and promote innovation. This event effectively created meaningful learning opportunities, addressing the need for a modern educational future and inspiring a culture of learning.
Dr. Nanthaporn Janchalia Seributra, CEO of Starfish Education, remarked, “As the initiator of FutureEd Fest, we emphasize that lifelong learning is the new global standard. Adaptability is crucial. Technology helps everyone work better but does not replace us, and the key to success is personalizing learning to fit individual needs.”
The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Minister of Education, who shared a keynote speech stating, “Education must be flexible and gentle enough to accommodate the dreams of children, which may vary. It must be safe enough for them to explore and find their own dreams.” This powerful message emphasized the benefits of such an educational festival for all, especially educators, directors, teachers, and parents, who gain numerous new ideas, including lifelong learners who can design responsive learning experiences for true development.
